Ryan Brown is the owner of Brown’s Test Kitchen. From an early age, he experimented with food and forced my family to try my creations. Some were extraordinary; others were total disasters.
The kitchen was his comfort, especially while learning from his Mom and Memom. With time he learned his family’s soul food recipes while keeping his mad scientist mentality.
His culinary exploration of soul food directed him down his ancestral history of barbecue & African flavors. Cooking helped him find the lost pieces of his heritage. Each dish is a homage to the African diaspora. Take a journey through the African diaspora with Brown’s Test Kitchen.
Kelewele – Fried sweet plantains seasoned in a spicy Ghanaian rub served with roasted peanuts
Yuca Nachos – Crispy Cassava Chips with your choice of sazón spice jackfruit or crispy pork belly loaded with white cheddar queso, corn salsa, Oaxaca cheese, and finished with a spicy African tomato sauce.
Curry Chicken Cheesesteak Sliders – Chicken stewed in Jamaican curry sauce with cheddar cheese wiz served on an Italian steak roll.
Shrimp & Grits – Lemon Pepper Shrimp in a garlic butter sauce served over cheesy Cajun grits and topped with crispy pork belly
